You're approaching retirement. The last thing you need is a guessing game.

If you've had more than a couple of jobs in your working life, the odds are good that you've got pension money sitting in pots you haven't thought about in years.

A scheme from a job you left in the 90s. A pension that quietly moved when your old employer was bought out. Money you paid into for three years at a company that doesn't exist anymore. It's all still yours — it just isn't sitting where you remember leaving it.

The pension industry is currently holding an estimated £26.6 billion in "lost" pensions — money belonging to real people who can't easily find it. Some of it might be yours. For most of our customers, it is.

You've worked 40+ years. You deserve to walk into retirement knowing exactly what's waiting for you — not hoping you haven't missed anything.

The average value of each pension we've located for our customers. Some are worth more. Some are worth less. A small number of traces find no pensions at all.
**Average value of each pension we have located on behalf of our clients, as of 7 March 2026. Individual results vary. Pension tracing does not guarantee that a pension will be located.

"But couldn't I just do this myself for free?"

Honestly? Yes. The government runs a free Pension Tracing Service. It's a phone number you can ring.

Here's what doesn't get mentioned. The free service is essentially a directory of pension providers. It gives you contact details — it doesn't contact anyone for you, doesn't tell you the value of your pensions, and doesn't chase responses when providers go quiet.

Doing it properly yourself looks like this:

Most people who try this give up after two providers. Not because they're not capable — because life is busy and the system fights you at every step.

What you get with Pension Pie instead

We trace up to 5 pensions in one search, contact every provider on your behalf, chase responses, and also run a hidden pension sweep against your National Insurance history to find pots you may have completely forgotten about.

Doing it yourself

  • You get a list of providers
  • You contact each provider yourself
  • Fill out forms or send letters (sometimes both)
  • Chase responses (often more than once)
  • Keep track of everything yourself
  • No guarantee you'll find everything

  • We follow up and chase responses

How it works

Three steps. Most of the work happens behind the scenes.

1

You tell us where you worked

List the jobs and pensions you remember. Most people only need a few minutes. We work with what you've got — even rough recollections.

2

We trace the pensions

Our forensic team contacts pension providers, investigates schemes linked to your employment history, and runs a hidden pension sweep against your NI records.

3

You receive your report

A clear report showing every pension we found, where each one is held, and what it's worth. You decide what to do next — there's no obligation.

What's included with every order

Questions people ask before they book

How long does the full trace take?
Some responses can begin arriving within 7–14 days, but in most cases a full trace takes a few weeks. The timeline depends on how quickly providers respond and how complex the case is. Older pensions and schemes linked to employers that no longer exist can take longer. We keep you updated throughout.
What if I can't remember everywhere I've worked?
That's the norm, not the exception. Most of our customers can only recall their employers in broad strokes — "a sales job in Manchester in the 90s", "something to do with the council in the early 2000s". We work with what you give us. You don't need a perfect memory for this to work — but the more detail you provide, the better the trace.
Is £249 the total cost? Are there extras?
£249 is the full fee, covering up to 5 pensions. No setup charges, no per-pension fees, no admin add-ons. We accept card, Klarna Pay in 3, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Do you sell my data or pass me to financial advisers?
We don't sell your data. Pension Pie is a tracing service, not an advice firm — we find your pensions, give you the report, and that's it. We don't take commissions, we don't sell leads, we don't push you towards any consolidation product. What you do with your report is entirely your decision.
What does the money-back guarantee cover?
If our forensic team completes a full search and is unable to identify any pension scheme in your name, we'll refund your £249 fee in full. The guarantee applies to purchases on or after 1 May 2026 and is subject to qualifying conditions including providing complete employment history, a valid NI number, and accurate information within 72 hours of sign-up. A minimum 3-month search period must elapse before a refund request can be considered. Read the full guarantee terms.
I've already started looking myself — is it too late?
Not at all. Tell us what you've already found and we'll pick up from there. Around a third of our customers come to us partway through trying to do it themselves. The DIY route gets you so far; we finish the job.
I'm not retiring for another 5–10 years. Should I do this now?
Earlier is generally better. Knowing what you've got now means you can plan and make decisions with the full picture. People who leave this until close to retirement often wish they'd done it years earlier.
What information do you actually need from me?
Your full name, date of birth, National Insurance number, and a list of every employer you can remember (approximate dates are fine). We'll walk you through the rest after checkout. The whole onboarding takes about 10 minutes.
What types of pensions can you trace?
Workplace pensions, personal pensions, defined contribution, defined benefit and final salary schemes, public sector pensions, and older or legacy schemes. We also run additional checks against records linked to your NI history to find pensions you may have forgotten about entirely.

Stop guessing. Start knowing.

Find every pension you've ever earned — and walk into retirement with the full picture instead of a vague hope.
